Torelló 225 2012 has been named “Best Wine” by the renowned Guia de Vins de Catalunya, after a blind tasting of 1,359 wines from 238 wineries across Catalonia. This Corpinnat sparkling wine has also received two additional prestigious awards: “Best Sparkling Wine” and “Best Traditional Blend Wine.”

What is Torelló 225 2012 like?

The award-winning Torelló 225 2012 is a Corpinnat made from the three historic grape varieties used in Penedès sparkling wines: 43% Xarel·lo, 34% Macabeo, and 23% Parellada. It undergoes a minimum ageing of 90 months on lees, and one of its distinctive characteristics is that the base wine is aged in barrels for four weeks, adding complexity and subtle toasted aromas. With a golden colour and fine bubbles, the result of a perfectly integrated effervescence, 225 stands out for its creaminess and aromas of dried fruits and ripe fruit.

How was the 2012 harvest?

The 2012 harvest was marked by excellent grape ripening and the perfect health of the fruit, partly due to low rainfall and a hot summer. As a result of the drought, production was reduced by 15-20%, but the wines produced were of very high quality. It was considered a historic vintage.

What are Torelló’s Corpinnat sparkling wines like?

Torelló’s sparkling wines are made from grapes grown on the vineyards of Finca Can Martí, an estate owned by the family since 1395, covering 135 hectares in Gelida, in the Alt Penedès region. Torelló produces Corpinnat sparkling wines, DO Penedès wines, and extra virgin olive oil.
