Nesting in a Torelló Collection nest-box
The magic of nature makes beautiful things like this happen. Life makes its way into a Torelló Collection box converted into a nesting box for chickadees. These clever little birds inhabit a large part of Europe and Asia and are very common here in Catalonia.
In the photos we can see how a female has laid her eggs in this nest built by a friend from Torelló, who used the wooden box from our Collection and hung it in the garden of his house, in Sanaüja (La Segarra). The great tit is a bird that measures about 14 centimetres and has a large number of songs, reaching up to 30 notes.
The great tit is a sedentary bird, which nests easily in woods, parks, even in city gardens and in artificial nests, as in the case shown here. They usually fill their nests with moss, hair, wool and feathers. Each time the female usually lays between six and eight eggs.
According to Jordi, the creator of this nest-box, we could see the first chicks in 15 days, and we hope they hatch healthy and we can see them fluttering around soon!
