A highly focused deliberative process

The process of selecting the awarded wines has been long. During the last week of April 2022, more than 300 international experts (including Sarah Jane Evans MW, Pedro Ballesteros MW, Andrew Jefford, Michal Hill Smith MW…) met in London to endorse 18,500 wines.

The bronze, silver and gold medals were selected from this appraisal. From the selection of gold medals, different judges re-tasted the wines to decide which wines deserved the platinum medal. The precision in the result is very detailed, since a wine that wins the platinum medal is tasted more than five times.
