Torelló Strengthens Its Commitment to Sustainability with the Renewal of the Biosphere Certification

Renewal of the Biosphere Certification
In recent days, Torelló Viticultors has renewed its Biosphere certification, a recognition that validates our commitment to sustainability in the production of Corpinnat wines and sparkling wines, as well as our wine tourism activities. This certification drives us to continue working under a model that is responsible towards society and the environment.
New Sustainability Initiatives for Biosphere Certification Renewal
One of the most notable improvements this year has been the introduction of carbon footprint measurement. Using the ScopeCO2 tool and a rigorous data collection methodology, we have begun quantifying the environmental impact of our activity and exploring strategies to reduce it. From now on, this calculation will be an annual requirement to maintain the Biosphere certification.
Sustainable Actions Implemented in Recent Years
Over the past few years, we have implemented several initiatives for the Biosphere certification, which we continue to reinforce every year:
- Water consumption optimisation through new conservation tools.
- Energy efficiency improvements with more sustainable management systems.
- Reduction of light pollution to protect biodiversity.
- Identification and efficient waste management across the estate.
- Study and conservation of biodiversity at the Can Martí Estate.
- Promotion of healthy habits among Torelló’s team and visitors.
What Is the Biosphere Certification and Why Is It Important?
The Biosphere certification was created by the Responsible Tourism Institute (ITR) in 1995 to promote best practices in sustainable development. This certification is aligned with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda, which outlines 169 targets for a more sustainable future.
Sustainability and Organic Viticulture: Torelló’s Commitment
At Torelló Viticultors, sustainability and organic farming are essential to our activity. The renewal of the Biosphere certification strengthens our dedication to preserving our environment and ensuring a more responsible future for generations to come.
