Solar eclipse from our Can Martí estate

A historic eclipse. On August 12, 2026, we experienced a total solar eclipse. Catalonia will not see another total eclipse until the year 2180, although there will be partial ones before then.

This makes us reflect on the number of eclipses witnessed at our farmhouse over the more than six centuries it has been in our family. From Mas de la Torrevella, part of the Can Martí estate, nestled at the foot of the Ordal mountains, we experienced it intensely. Right in the middle of the grape harvest, around 8:30 PM, the moon darkened the sun, suddenly transforming the light over the vineyards and bringing an impressive silence. It was amazing, unique—an exceptional astronomical phenomenon.
