Torelló receives a plaque from the Mossos d’Esquadra on the day of the escuadras

Entrega placa dia de les esquadres
Each year, the Mossos d’Esquadra recognise the meritorious actions of members of the force, of other police bodies, and of representatives from the judiciary and civil society. It is in this latter category that Torelló has received this distinction from the Mossos of the South Metropolitan Region, in recognition of its actions following the railway accident that took place opposite our Can Martí farmhouse, the home of Torelló’s cellars.
Ernestina Torelló opened her home to set up a field hospital to care for the injured, while her family supported the emergency services, firefighters, Mossos and local police throughout the night and into the early hours of the morning. We received the commemorative plaque from the Director General of the Police, Mr Josep Lluís Trapero, on the Day of the Escuadras, at a ceremony held in Sitges. On the plaque, the Minister of the Interior of the Government of Catalonia, Ms Núria Parlon, states:
“To the Torelló family, in gratitude for their willingness and assistance during the railway accident that occurred in Gelida on 20 January 2026.”
Society always gives back what you give to it. At Torelló, we are deeply grateful for this recognition. We are certain that we would do the same again, and it is something that will remain part of our memory forever.
